The announcement was made by the Flutter-owned company during the Player Protection Symposium , ‘RG Tech: Potential Game Changers‘, at the SBC Summit North America.

Real-Time Check-In is designed as a proactive intervention tool that evaluates a customer’s deposit in real time to offer more control over their spending. If a attempts to deposit an amount that deviates significantly from their normal pattern, the system intervenes with a prompt.

This prompt allows the to reassess the deposit amount, lower it, set a personal deposit limit, or review spending habits via the company’s My Spend Tool.

“We know deposits are a key moment in the customer journey and Real-Time Check-In provides us an opportunity to surface deposit data in real-time to help customers make informed decisions about their budgets for our platforms before they’ve made their deposit,” said FanDuel SVP public policy and sustainability, Cory Fox.

“It is another step forward into developing tools that help our customers create budgets for their entertainment.”

The system is intended to create a moment of reflection for s before making an impulsive or unusual financial decision.

It represents the latest evolution of responsible gaming tools within the FanDuel ecosystem and is inspired by Flutter’s existing international efforts.

Specifically, FanDuel adapted the framework from Sportsbet, Flutter’s Australian-facing brand, which launched its Real Time Intervention (RTI) system in 2022.

RTI similarly uses data models to detect atypical deposit behaviours and prompt real-time interventions, and currently reaches 90% of Sportsbet’s customer base.

The intent is not to block or penalise s, but to provide them with insights and tools that promote responsible gambling habits.

Predictive analytics to help shape player protection

The move aligns with broader trends in the industry to apply predictive analytics and machine learning in service of player protection.

Real-Time Check-In forms part of a broader responsible gaming strategy that has become increasingly central to FanDuel’s product development.

One prior initiative, My Spend, launched during the NFL season, provides s with a personalised dashboard to track their betting and deposit activity.

FanDuel told NEXT.io that approximately 3.5 million s, nearly half of FanDuel’s NFL betting audience, used the My Spend feature by the end of the season.

This response has served as internal validation for FanDuel’s strategy to prioritise insight-driven tools that facilitate engagement with responsible play mechanisms.

Cory Fox emphasised the parallel focus FanDuel places on entertainment and sustainability, asserting that both product excitement and customer protection can coexist within the platform.

The company also sees further opportunities to build tools that go beyond traditional responsible gambling features, using personalisation as a core design principle.

By allowing players to contextualise their own behaviour with real-time , FanDuel anticipates increased adoption and more sustainable engagement.

The launch also reflects a broader movement within Flutter Entertainment to apply lessons learned across its global subsidiaries in localised, market-specific ways.

The “Flutter Edge” concept, which describes the company’s ability to share technology and best practices across its brands, has been key in accelerating the deployment of responsible gaming tools in the US.

Real-Time Check-In is now live on the FanDuel platform and is expected to expand in coverage as the company continues refining its behavioural models.

FanDuel aims to further integrate this tool into the customer journey in a seamless manner, positioning it as an embedded part of the deposit experience rather than a separate feature.
